HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the latest developments in the region and exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues.
During a meeting held in New York on Monday, the two leaders focused on the Syrian crisis and the plight of the Syrian people amid the stalled international solutions to put an end to the conflict.
Both sides stressed the importance for the international community to exert more efforts to end the inhuman suffering and stop the siege and the forced systematic displacement being perpetrated by the regime against the people.
They also stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive and lasting political solution to end the crisis in Syria in accordance with the Security Council resolutions (2254) and (2268) and Geneva-1 communique.
The Emir also reviewed with the Turkish President the strategic relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them.
The members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir attended the meeting. It was also attended by a number of Turkish ministers.
