HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi yesterday met with Minister of Education in Iraq’s Kurdistan Pshtiwan Sadiq Abdullah and his accompanying delegation. Lankan jailed for drunk driving
A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Sri Lankan man to three months in jail and fined him QR10,000 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, the court also ordered the suspension of the man’s driving licence for a month.
The defendant had rammed the vehicle onto a pavement on Rawdat Al Khail Street while being in an inebriated state. The man was arrested and a blood examination proved that he had
consumed alcohol.
The defendant, too, admitted during interrogation that he had consumed some beer before driving.
Filipino team visits Katara
The general manager of the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, met with the chairman of the National Commission for Culture and Arts of the Philippines, Felipe De Leon Jr, and his accompanying delegations yesterday. The two sides discussed aspects of boosting cultural cooperation between Qatar and the Philippines through hosting of cultural events that would afford visitors to Katara a glimpse of Filipino culture.
