Qatar University ranked 49 in QS list

Qatar University (QU) has been ranked 49 in the ‘QS Top 50 Under 50’ worldwide among universities established less than 50 years ago.
QU, established in 1973, is 43 years old. The institution had been also ranked No393 in the QS World University Rankings.
QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham said: “This significant success highlights QU’s ongoing commitment to advance its standing in the international arena among the top universities in the world. QU is one of the two Arab universities which have been named in the QS Top 50 under 50 ranking.”
“The university continues to deliver on its mission to promote its academic programmes and research in line with the needs and expectations of the Qatari society. It also contributes through its strategic plan to national approaches towards a knowledge-based economy,” he added.
Since its inception in 1973, QU has served as Qatar’s primary institution of higher education. With over 17,000 students in its ranks, it is today a beacon of academic and research excellence in the GCC region.
The organisation is committed to providing high-quality education in areas of national priority. Underpinning this commitment is the goal to align its colleges, programmes and courses with established international standards and best practices. As a result, QU has been successful in its accreditation initiatives, earning the endorsement of numerous leading international accrediting bodies.
The university is home to nine colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business and Economics, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Shariah and Islamic Studies. It offers the widest range of academic programmes in Qatar - 31 Bachelors, 26 Masters, 4 Diplomas, and 6 Doctoral programmes.
