The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC), in collaboration with Samsung, has announced the launch of the Replacement Programme for Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
The initiative covers devices sold before September 15 and start with model number SM-N930 with a screen dimension of 5.7 inches, the MEC has said in a statement.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users can now check whether their devices suffer from a defect in the battery by visiting Samsung’s official website (www.samsung.com) and follow the illustrated procedures.
The ministry has collaborated with Samsung on issuing informative bulletins that demonstrate to the consumer how to distinguish between faulty Galaxy Note 7 devices and new and secure ones, through the device’s box as well as the device itself, the statement notes.
The informative bulletins will be available at sales centres and an announcement of the newly introduced instructions and steps would be published in all local newspapers.
The MEC said it has ensured that the recall campaign for all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices will continue until December 31 based on the following options: replace the damaged device with a new one, replace the damaged device with another device and pay the difference, or refund the amount paid for the device.
In case of any queries, the ministry has advised consumers to contact the agent through 8002255.
The initiative comes as part of the MEC’s efforts to monitor defective goods in the market and take necessary action. Further, the ministry is “continuously supervising commercial agents to ensure their commitment and adherence to follow up on the maintenance and repair works of devices with defects in order to protect consumers’ rights”, the statement adds.

Earlier, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd had recalled Galaxy Note 7 devices equipped with batteries it had found to be fire-prone and halted their sales across markets.
