The vehicle number plate workshop of the Traffic Department has relocated to the Ministry of Interior (MoI)’s services centre complex in Doha Industrial Area from Madinat Khalifa. The new workshop is equipped with 10 “smart plate manufacturing machines” made in Germany, compared to eight in Madinat Khalifa. The new facility also has four tracks that can handle 10 vehicles each. The time required to complete procedures – such as getting a new number plate or replacing a damaged one – will be less than 10 minutes, according to a report in the Arrayah Arabic daily, which also noted that the new workshop will provide number plates for private vehicles and private transportation vehicles. Heavy vehicles and company-owned vehicles will continue getting number plates from the Fahes centre (Woqod) in the Industrial Area.
