Qatar Airways named best airline in Mideast, Africa

Qatar Airways was once again named the Best Middle Eastern/African Airline at the 2016 Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards held in Hong Kong on Friday. This marks the seventh consecutive year the airline has received this accolade.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker said, “We are extremely honoured to be voted as the Best Middle Eastern/African Airline for the seventh straight year. We would like to thank our loyal passengers for their continued support and for giving us their vote of confidence. I would also like to express my gratitude to all of our staff for their continued dedication to delivering exceptional, award-winning, travel experiences and products to our passengers.”
The accolade adds to a year of continued success for Qatar Airways, particularly when it pertains to awards that echo consumer sentiments. Some of the recent recognition Qatar Airways has achieved include awards for ‘Best For Business’ by Condé Nast Traveller readers; being ranked number one globally by AirHelp – an independent airline consumer rights organisation – for providing travellers worldwide with the highest quality and service, on-time performance, and customer claim processing; and being awarded the ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘Best Business Class Airline Lounge’ and ‘Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East’ at the prestigious Skytrax 2016 World Airline Awards.
Representing the airline at the 2016 Business Traveller awards, Qatar Airways vice president (North Asia) Paul Johannes, said, “It is my honour to receive the award on behalf of Qatar Airways and to be recognised among Asia Pacific’s best within the travel and hospitality industry. Asia is a core part of Qatar Airways’ business and network and we are privileged to remain an airline of choice in the region. We
will continue to work hard at exceeding our travellers’
expectations.”
Due to increased passenger demand, Qatar Airways recently increased capacity to Guangzhou on July 1 and Sydney on September 16, flying the flagship A380 aircraft with some 517 seats and three-class service.
Qatar Airways’ A380 features a double deck with First and Business Class on the upper deck, along with a lounge.
Qatar Airways offers convenient flight schedules for Asia/Pacific travellers to the Middle East, Africa and Europe, on one of the world’s youngest fleets, averaging just under five years.
The airline operates the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world, including the A350, for which it was the global launch customer, and the Boeing Dreamliner, for which it was the Middle East launch customer.
