QC gives clothing to 4,000 orphans as gift for Eid

Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of Qatar’s philanthropists, distributed clothes and gifts among 4,000 orphans in 21 countries during Eid al-Adha.
Celebrations held on the occasion were attended by local dignitaries and diplomatic officials from different Qatari embassies.
QC sponsors more than 105,000 orphans through its “Rofaqaa” initiative, offering comprehensive educational, social and healthcare.
Khalid Abdullah al-Yaf’i, operations director at QC’s executive management of operations, said in a press release: “The Eid clothing project targeted children aged under 12 years from among orphans sponsored by QC in 21 countries around the world. The project focused on countries that suffer from exceptional circumstances.”
He explained how children who had been displaced or become refugees comprised the “most important category as it was important to fill their hearts with joy and happiness”.
“We wanted to bring a smile to the faces of orphans in Syria and other places. We also wanted to make orphans in Iraq, Yemen, Palestine and Somalia happy,” he said, adding that the items delivered to the orphans included clothes, shoes, toys and sweets.
A number of local dignitaries and diplomatic officials from Qatari missions commended the outcome of the project, noting how the QC initiative allowed to them to share “amazing moments” with the orphans.
At a ceremony held in Mogadishu, the chargé d’affaires of Qatar’s embassy in Somalia, Hassan bin Hamza, participated in the distribution of Eid clothing among 100 male and female orphans sponsored by QC in Somalia.
The official said he was thrilled to participate in the ceremony. “I am so happy to be here with QC’s office to bring smiles to the little orphans’ faces. We thank all the philanthropists who have helped make this project see light,” he said.
In Burkina Faso, 180 orphans benefited from the project. The distribution took place in the presence of Ivent Dumbly, director-general of social solidarity at the ministry of social affairs and solidarity.
On behalf of her government, Dumbly commended the role played by Qatar and QC in providing for the needs of orphans. “QC provides monthly payments to the sponsored. It has proven its efficiency and excellence,” she noted.
QC’s office in Pakistan distributed Eid clothing among 245 male and female orphans in a number of regions and governorates. The children were greeted on the occasion of Eid on behalf of the sponsors and philanthropists in Qatar.
A few days before Eid al-Adha began, QC’s office in Niamey, capital of Niger, distributed clothes and sweets to 85 orphans at a special ceremony.
Also, QC distributed Eid clothing among orphans and children from poor families in Qatar during Eid al-Adha, which cost more than QR500,000.
It also carried out special initiatives such as a pilgrim awareness activity at Gulf Mall, Al Khor Mall and Lagoona Mall.
In co-operation with the “Isna’ Khayran” initiative, QC distributed Eid clothing among 200 children who participated in Qatar’s Future Leaders programme before Eid.
