QC to take part in Lisbon meeting
Qatar Chamber will take part in the Fourth Arab-Portuguese Economic Forum organised by the Arab-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry starting in Lisbon yesterday. The QC delegation includes honorary treasurer Ali bin Abdulatif al-Misnad and board members Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Rezvani and Rashid bin Hamad al-Adhba.
The event will see the participation of several companies, businessmen and institutions from Portugal, Arab and European countries, and aims to set partnerships between economic operators from Arab countries and their counterparts from Portugal, especially in construction, infrastructure, health, technical co-operation and investment development.
QOC chief meets senior official
HE the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary-General Dr Thani bin Abdulrahman al-Kuwari met in Doha yesterday with the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Secretary-General Gunilla Lindberg. They discussed the latest preparations for hosting the 21st ANOC General Assembly in Doha in November. Lindberg expressed appreciation for the warm reception and praised sports renaissance and major tournaments organised by Qatar.
Kahramaa marks hotline success
The Unified Call Centre of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has made remarkable strides in its functioning, it was announced yesterday. As part of enhancing its services considerably in recent months, the centre (991) working round the clock is steadily responding to the public queries, complaints and requests in a swift and effective manner. The centre, which is acting as a link between Kahramaa and its customers, has attained remarkably good quality levels while meeting customer requirements.
The centre is receiving between 1,000 and 1,500 calls a day and averages between 7,500 and 8,000 calls a week. The monthly average is anywhere between 35,000 and 40,000 calls.
Kahramaa is also responding well to customer requirements through such communication channels as Kahramaa App for smart phones, e-mails, and Kahramaa website.
Dozens of students take part in World Walking Day
The Qatar Olympic Committee yesterday marked the fourth edition of the World Walking Day at the Qatar Sports Club with the participation of more than 300 students from elementary schools, in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar Red Crescent and Qatar Sports Club. At least 14 schools participated in the event.
Waleed El Khanji, Head of Sport Events Unit in QOC, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) the event aims at instilling walking among students in order to adopt an active lifestyle.
Walking is vital for active living.
The World Walking Day was launched in 1991 as a means against obesity and inactivity.
