Al Shaqab Racing-owned Ectot demolished the opposition to win the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (Gr1) at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Todd Pletcher’s French recruit Ectot, ridden by Jose Ortiz, won his ticket to the $4 million Breeders’ Cup Turf to be run on November 5 at Santa Anita by winning his first Group 1 amazingly across the Atlantic.
“He has trained exceptionally well for us since he came in,” said Pletcher. “He went off form in his last few starts in Europe, but came to us in great condition. His races leading up to this were sneaky good and he seemed to be improving. We made some minor adjustments with equipment and shoes and figured it out as we went along.”
