One of the oldest educational institutions in town, Pakistan Education Centre (PEC) recently felicitated its meritorious students from Grade 9-12 who scored more than 80% marks in Federal Board Examination for the term 2015-16.
Pakistani ambassador Shehzad Ahmed, who is also chairman, Board of Governors, Pakistan Education Centre, was the chief guest on the occasion. PEC principal Nargis Raza was the guest of honour.
Officials from Pakistan embassy, board members, parents and a large number of students attended the event. Ambassador Ahmed presented the students with commendation certificates for their meritorious performance.
The teachers, too, were honoured for their hard work and dedication. The parents spoke highly about the dedicated approach of PEC towards achieving excellence.
Speaking at the occasion, the ambassador urged the students to always remember the values that have been ingrained in them at PEC which will help them etch a life embellished with success.
“I think these young students are very motivated. They are working hard to increase the academic standards for themselves. They have the support of their school and their parents, and that is all part of their success,” the ambassador tells Community in a chat after the event.
“But the major motivation is coming from the students themselves through hard work and it is a great thing to have in these early stages of their lives. It will give them a lot of confidence as they move forward. I congratulate all of them for their achievements and wish them all the best,” he explains.
The school, the ambassador says, continues to do better every year. There can always be room to do better and they will do better. “We want to raise not only the academic standards but also the extra-curricular to provide the best to all the students,” says ambassador Ahmed.
He says there is always more work to do but he is satisfied that the school has made a lot of progress in the last 2-3 years. It has come a long way and a lot of parents would recognise that, says the ambassador adding that the school wants to keep improving its standards and to become a premier institution in Doha and internationally. That is the mission.
Principal Nargis Raza Otho in her welcome speech, expressed pride over the spectacular results in Federal Board Annual Examination for the year 2015-16 from the school. Exhorting the students to carry on with their pursuit of excellence, she congratulated the elite achievers and stressed on the importance of hopes and aspirations and how they are the stepping stones on the path to success.
Speaking to Community, one of the students from Grade XI, Ambreen Riaz, says she was feeling ecstatic and blessed. She topped the pre-medical and got 89.3% marks.
“I am really thankful to the school and I feel blessed that I have such amazing mentors and teachers to guide me through it and to provide me with such opportunities,” says Riaz.
“It started with a dream. When you are a child and your parents give you your first doctor-set toy. First it was all play but as I got older I really got into it. I am fascinated by how the human body works. “Moreover, I really wanted to help people,” she explains, referring to her dream to become a doctor.
Mahnoor Shahid from Grade XI pre-engineering also secured top marks for the third consecutive year. “The reason why I am feeling so proud is that I have participated in a lot of activities in the past year. I think the key is keeping a balance between the co-curricular activities and academics,” says Shahid.
“Students who become involved in the co-curricular activities completely forget about their studies and vice versa. So the key is to keep a balance. And also if you are paying attention in the class, more than half of your work is done. She wants to become a lawyer in future,” she adds.
Their fellow student Sidra Haider says her parents are very proud of her achievement. “I got some amazing marks. My teachers have been very supportive. They always encourage and motivate us,” she adds.
