Reckless motorist ordered to pay blood money

A Doha Criminal Court has ordered a motorist, who caused the death of two persons and injured 23 others, to pay in collaboration with the insurance companies concerned a blood money of QR400,000 to the legal heirs of the deceased and a compensation of QR213,000 to the injured.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Friday that the motorist was also fined QR10,000 for reckless driving.
The motorist, who was part of a convoy, caused the accident when he jumped a red light in his attempt to catch up with the other vehicles in the motorcade and crashed into a passenger bus killing its driver.
The bus, in turn, hit a sedan whose driver was also killed.
Those injured were the motorists and occupants of other vehicles. The bus also caught fire in the impact of the collision.
Legal heirs of each of the deceased have to be paid QR200,000 each.
