The Public Works Authority (Ashghal), in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior (MoI), yesterday announced that it had temporarily opened one lane in each direction of the North Canal Crossing, to traffic coming from and heading to Lusail City.
This arrangement will remain in place until October 17 morning (see map), according to a press release from Ashghal. The move is aimed at enhancing traffic movement during the UCI Road World Championships - Doha 2016, which began yesterday, the MoI said in a statement.
Road closures are being carried out at different places in view of the cycling event.
The ministry has advised motorists to adhere to speed limits and co-operate with security personnel and the cycling meet’s organising committee to ensure everyone’s safety.
Meanwhile, Ashghal said the newly-opened lane is to be used during the closure of the existing temporary Lusail Road. Motorists can use it to reach places such as Lagoona Mall, Grand Hyatt Doha and the Legtaifiya area through Lusail City.
The entrances of these areas will be closed for different periods over the week due to the UCI Road World Championships.
