Vodafone equips Al Khor sports complex with free Wi-Fi

Vodafone has equipped the Al Khor Workers’ Sports Complex with Wi-Fi to give thousands of workers access to the Internet for free, the company has announced in a press statement.
The complex, designed and developed by Barwa Real Estate in partnership with the Supreme Committee of Delivery & Legacy and Qatar Foundation, aims to improve the quality of life of more than 150,000 workers residing in Al Khor and
neighbouring areas.
“Vodafone globally has long championed the importance of giving Internet access to all members of the society. So, we are delighted that thousands of workers will benefit from being included in the digital world and, very importantly, have a means to stay in touch with their loved ones back home,” Vodafone Qatar said in the statement.
On its part, Barwa Real Estate stressed that the Al Khor Workers’ Sports Complex has played an important role in the lives of the labour community in Al Khor for two years now, giving them a place to gather, play sports and enjoy entertainment from their home country. “The inclusion of free Wi-Fi in the complex is a further step from both Barwa Real Estate and Vodafone to better this important community’s lifestyle,” it added.
Built across 245,000sq m, the complex includes cricket grounds, basketball and volleyball courts in addition to supermarkets, restaurants, cinemas and other amenities. Vodafone is the only telecommunications operator serving the community in the complex with a retail store, the statement adds.
