The Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has received a cheque for QR275,000 raised through LuLu Hypermarket Group-Qatar region’s “Buy and Donate” campaign during the Ramadan season.
The cheque was handed over to RAF chief executive Dr Mohamed Salah Ibrahim and executive development manager Ahmad Fakhroo by LuLu Group regional director Shaijan M O and regional manager Shanavas P M.
In a press statement, LuLu Group said it had been associating with RAF for the past three years to support the cause of charity and had signed an agreement to donate up to 10% of sales proceeds for 400 food and non-food items during the holy month of Ramadan.
The campaign ran at all LuLu outlets in Qatar.
LuLu saw this as a “great opportunity to accelerate their continuous efforts towards corporate social responsibility and humanitarian services”.
Last year, it donated a sum of QR250,000 to RAF during Ramadan.
Ibrahim expressed delight at the partnership with LuLu Hypermarket Group.
Fakhroo noted that the LuLu-RAF agreement has been “yielding exemplary results for the last three years and has become a role model for other commercial organisations”.
Mohamed Althaf, director for LuLu Group International, said: “The ‘Buy and Donate’ campaign, which ran for the third consecutive year, has got overwhelming response from customers. LuLu Group will continue to strengthen the ties of co-operation with RAF in their humanitarian and charitable cause in the future as well.”
LuLu had launched an extensive media campaign for the promotion through newspapers, radio, and SMS.
