Ooredoo has reported the “highest-ever level” of traffic on its gaming portal in 2016, adding that more people in Qatar are using their smart devices to play games and enjoy mobile entertainment.
Driven by the increasing penetration of smartphones, plus the growing speed, coverage, and capacity of the Ooredoo Supernet, Qatar is emerging as one of the leading markets in the region for online entertainment. Gaming has expanded beyond the traditional audience demographic of teenagers and young people, and now includes people from all walks of life, according to Ooredoo’s research.
The Ooredoo Gaming Portal, which was launched in February 2015, was designed with Nazara Technologies to enable Qatar’s smartphone users to play games whenever they want. It offers subscribers the ability to download and play unlimited games on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Once subscribed, customers can download games onto their devices or play online without having to pay for individual games. This “buffet” style of gaming has proven popular with Qatar users, as people look to try out the latest games without having to purchase every download.
Subscriptions start at just QR2 per day for a recurring daily subscription. Weekly and monthly recurring subscriptions are available at QR9 and QR24, respectively.
The Ooredoo gaming portal includes more than 500 games, including genres such as puzzles, sports, racing, arcade and action, and strategy.
Since its launch, Ooredoo has invested in updating content on the portal, as well as ensuring a smooth gaming experience for all on the Ooredoo Supernet. There are no data charges to browse the games from the Ooredoo gaming portal at http://extra.ooredoo.qa, and the service has both English and Arabic content available.
This is the latest entertainment service launched by Ooredoo yet as the company works to provide the biggest and best in entertainment from around the world for Qatar. Plans are in place to increase the range of online options in the coming months.
