Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority has initiated the “modernisation of the technical aviation regulations” as part of its keenness to ensure a safer, efficient and flexible aviation system, face future challenges and support growing aviation industry in the country.
This is being done with the “co-ordinated and concerted efforts” between all aviation stakeholders in Qatar, the Civil Aviation Authority said yesterday.
Since October 1, new technical aviation safety regulations have been developed to be applicable by the airlines on aircraft operations, training of pilots, and the applicable procedures at the Civil Aviation Authority for the licence to fly; in addition to the airworthiness regulations to ensure a more efficient maintenance system for aircraft.
Qatar Civil Aviation Authority chairman Abdulla Nasser Turki al-Subaey stressed the importance of modernising aviation regulations so that they are in alignment with the most modern aviation regulations such as the ones developed in the European Aviation System during the last decade.
Regarding such regulations, he said Qatar was “far more privileged” as all the rulemaking process is under “one roof” while in the European system, “compromises should be made” among the 27 European states.
The draft regulations were first published in August this year and discussed within the Qatar Aviation sector for consultation and sharing views on the proposed regulations. All the resulting comments have been deeply analysed and taken into account in the preparation of the final draft.
The new regulations on operations, aircrew, and the amended airworthiness regulations are available on the QCAA Official website: www.caa.gov.qa
In the coming months, the Civil Aviation Authority will publish new technical regulations on air traffic management and services, drones and aerodromes. More existing regulations will be reviewed and updated in 2017.
“Such regulatory modernisation is driven by the ambitious goal of achieving a complete new set of regulations by 2017 to enable a safe and competitive aviation system in Qatar to operate worldwide according to the highest standards, under the auspices and adequate supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority in Qatar,” an official statement said.
