Al-Kuwari meets Chinese culture minister

HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar’s candidate to the post of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) met yesterday with China’s Minister of Culture Luo Shugang.
During the meeting, the Qatari candidate expressed his thanks to the government of China for inviting him to visit and present his programme as director-general of Unesco.  HE al-Kuwari highlighted Qatar and China’s strong cultural ties, reflected in the two countries’ holding of a Year of Culture event in 2016. He then discussed his vision for Unesco.
For his part, the Chinese Minister expressed his best wishes for the Qatari candidate and added that he can expect strong support from the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the government as a whole.
Qatar’s ambassador in China Sultan bin Salmeen Almansouri attended the meeting along with a number of Chinese officials at the Ministry of Culture.

Chief of Staff holds talks with French counterpart
HE the Chief of Staff Air Vice-Marshal Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim met the French Chief of the Defence Staff, General Pierre de Villiers in Paris yesterday.
The meeting reviewed issues of mutual interest in light of the ties between Qatar and France.
The two sides also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of developing them, particularly in military affairs.
HE Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim arrived yesterday in France on an official visit.

Foreign Ministry chief meets envoys
HE Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi held separate meetings yesterday with Pakistan’s ambassador to Qatar Shahzad Ahmed and the ambassador of Lebanon Hassan Qassem Najem.
 During the two meetings, bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, in addition to matters of common interest were discussed.

Envoys present credentials
Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi received the credentials of Qatar’s non-resident ambassador  HE Yousef bin Mohamed al-Mahmoud in Maputo yesterday.
The ambassador conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the president of Mozambique.
The president of Mozambique reciprocated the greetings of HH the Emir.
He wished the ambassador success in his new duties and in advancing and strengthening the ties of friendship and co-operation between Qatar and Mozambique.
Meanwhile, President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev has received the credentials of Qatar’s ambassador Rashid bin Ali al-Khater in Sofia.
Ambassador al-Khater conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the President Rosen Plevneliev.
Bulgarian president reciprocated the Emir’s greetings and wished  Qatari people further prosperity and progress.
He wished the ambassador success in his new duties and in advancing and strengthening the ties of friendship and co-operation between Qatar and Bulgaria.

Lekhwiya to hold exercises
The General Command of the Qatari Armed Forces has announced that the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) will conduct exercises at Lekhwiya camp on 17 October from 7:15am to 9:15am.
The General Command has urged visitors to the area to take precautions.
