French firms meet sports leaders, decision makers in Qatar

Business France, the national agency supporting the international development of the French economy, are organising French Qatar Sport Days, which began on October 11 and will run till tomorrow, in Doha.
The event coincides with the UCI Road World Championships in the heart of Doha.
Representatives of the participating French companies held collective business-to-business (BtoB) meetings with sports authorities and decision makers.
They met with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), who organised a visit of Al Wakrah stadium, under construction for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Aspire Zone Foundation welcomed them at the Aspire Dome, while Al Shaqab offered them an amazing Arabian horse show at their equestrian facilities. The programme includes meetings with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, local partners and distributors to offer their know-how, products and services.
Christelle Peyran, head of Business France Qatar, said: “Qatar is hosting the first Road World Championship in the Middle East among other major sport events such as the World Gymnastics Championship in 2018 and the FIFA World Cup in 2022. We believe that introducing leading French companies to local authorities and decision makers in the field of sports is a great opportunity for both parties to foster mutual relationships and help improve the economy of both countries.”
Some of the French companies participating in the event include, AREP, a multidisciplinary engineering consulting organisation; Dietal, a company specialised in the design and the manufacturing of professional indoor lighting fixtures; Etienne Lacroix – Ruggieri, one of the leading pyrotechnic field and fireworks companies; Green Sciences, who have designed a solution to fight against indoor air pollution; Marty Sports, a company specialising in the design, manufacturing, marketing and installation of sports equipment; Mediatree Group, a multinational media company; Orange Business Services, an ICT services provider; Omniris Technologies, a company specialised in the provision of fully integrated solutions to large venues; Seaver, who have developed first-ever smart equipment for horses; and Serge Ferrari, a leader in the flexible composite material sector.
According to Business France, French companies have made their skills and latest technologies available to fulfil Qatar’s sustainable objectives towards its major sport events. A group of French companies based in Qatar has founded a local cluster called French Team for Sport, supported by the French Embassy and Business France, to offer integrated solutions in the whole sport event value chain to the Qatari authorities. French Team for Sport, which gathers 60 companies will launch its website, under the patronage of Thierry Braillard, French Secretary of State in charge of Sport, during the Doha Cycling Road World Championship 2016.
