Katara in pact with Arab World Institute

Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation recently signed a co-operation agreement with the Arab World Institute, Paris.
The pact was inked in the presence of Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti and the Institute’s general director, Mojeb al-Zahrani.
The agreement is in line with Katara’s “keenness to build partnerships with regional, international and cultural institutes, contributing to a sustained relationship that will contribute to strengthening its cultural role in Qatar”, according to a press statement from the Cultural Village Foundation.
On the occasion, Dr al-Sulaiti said: “The importance of this co-operation lies in the contribution made to the establishment of a permanent and systematic relationship that will strengthen the role of Katara in enriching the cultural arena in Qatar, the Gulf region and France. The agreement in line with our strategic objectives, aspiring to promote culture in all its forms and make it a bridge that links people and goes beyond local and regional boundaries.”
He stressed that Katara was eyeing the “creation of a healthy environment for arts and culture communities in Qatar to flourish in, where national talent is nurtured, supported and celebrated, in line with the State’s master development plan that targets progress across all fields”.
“Katara’s ongoing efforts to become a global cultural powerhouse, a platform for intellectuals and creativity and a centre of arts, theatre, literature and music, make us more committed than ever to contribute to the creation of knowledgeable generations, equipped with the best education, and who are familiar with various cultures across the world,” he noted.
Dr al-Sulaiti noted that the co-operation agreement would help develop “cultural, cognitive co-operation”.
In addition, it will be a gateway for exchanging experiences and critical information through the launch of initiatives and programmes.
On his part, al-Zahrani said: “I’m thrilled and optimistic as this is the first agreement we have signed with Katara. The Arab World Institute in Paris was established to support cultural exchange between France and the Arab world.”
