Ministry to start national MMR campaign tomorrow

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) will start the National Immunisation Campaign against Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) on Monday. During the campaign that runs until November 14, as many as 294,000 children aged one to 13 all across the country are being targeted.

The campaign will be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Primary Health Care Corporation, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Petroleum Medical Services and Sidra Medical and Research Centre.
The health ministry has affirmed that the MMR vaccine “is safe, effective and gives long-term protection”, and has been proved by its use globally for more than 40 years. The ministry has also dismissed rumours, which had been spreading through social media, of links between the MMR vaccine and autism.
It is scheduled that the vaccination activities for school going children will be carried out at independent, private and community schools across Qatar.
The vaccination is compulsory for all children in the age category and can be avoided only on account of any medical grounds.
The MMR vaccine will be available in the morning and evening shifts at all health centres under Primary Health Care Corporation without any prior appointment and in the immunisation clinic of Hamad Medical Corporation.
In addition, the MMR vaccines will be provided at Qatar Petroleum Medical Services, Al Khor Community under RasGas and Sidra Medical and Research Centre. The vaccine will also be provided free of charge in 20 private health facilities such as Doha Clinic Hospital, El Emadi Hospital, American Hospital, Al Shefa Polyclinic, Aster Medical Centre C Ring Road, Fetomaternal Medical Centre, Al Esraa Polyclinic, Aster Medical Centre Plus, Aster Medical Centre –Al Khor, Al Tai Medical Centre, Syrian American Medical Centre, Family Medical Centre, Al Hayat Medical Centre, Apollo Clinic, Dr. Maher Abbas Clinic, Al Mansoor Polyclinic, Dr. Bashar Bashar Clinic, Al Kayyali Medical Centre, Tadwai Medical Centre, Atlas Medical Centre and Future Medical Centre.
