Ali al-Sulaiti, a young Qatari, is demonstrating a Middle Eastern contribution to pioneering animation technology at the Stars Of Science, leading edutainment television reality show initiated by Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development.
Ali’s invention ‘The 3D Drawing Generator’ transfers 2D drawings into 3D models with the capability to produce an animated movie in just 90 minutes.
“I have always been fascinated by animated films,” Ali said.
“When I discovered that 3D animation movies can take up to five years to produce, my imagination was really fired, and I started to think how I could help streamline this process for the benefit of animators and spectators alike.”
Ali hopes his invention will dramatically cut unnecessary production time, saving on budget and resources, and enabling companies to produce more films for children to love and learn from.
Apart from its commercial use, enabling animators to potentially produce a movie within one year, Ali also believes his invention will allow children to enjoy the gift of drawing; using software that allows them to create their very own 3D characters with the ability to produce unique videos and bespoke toys.
The young inventor highlighted the value of the show which has helped kick-start his career.
“I am learning so much about business and programming. Not only do I have exposure to the different aspects of product development, but I am constantly receiving invaluable advice from my fellow contestants and Qatar’s industry and thought-leaders, who are helping me refine my product even further.”
Ali has demonstrated his determination and self-belief as a young entrepreneur; returning from a rejection in Season 7 to participate in Season 8.
Ali credits the initial disappointment of being voted out by the judges as the fuel behind his motivation to return with new ideas and new ways of thinking.
