Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF), in collaboration with the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), has opened online registration for the “Ladies Walk the Park” breast cancer awareness campaign to mark this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event is set to take place at Aspire Park on October 20 from 4pm to 6pm and aims to encourage participants to embrace a healthier lifestyle and become familiar with both the causes of breast cancer and effective prevention methods.
Female residents of all ages are encouraged to participate in a 1-2km walk around Aspire Park and attend a breast cancer awareness seminar presented by the QCS.
Registration is free and can be done through the website www.lifeinaspire.qa
Last year, dignitaries taking part included Qatar Women’s Sports Committee president Ahlam al-Mana, Qatar Centre for Voluntary Activities chairwoman Aisha al-Kuwari, QCS honorary ambassador Asma al-Hamadi, and Fatima al-Kuwari, director of public and community relations at Ooredoo.
Lolwa al-Marri, head of events at AZF, said: “We are proud to collaborate with the Qatar Cancer Society again this year to organise the ‘Ladies Walk the Park’.”
QCS director general Mariam Hamad al-Nuaimi said: “The ‘Ladies Walk the Park’ event ... is an extensions of the QCS’ ongoing awareness campaign, ‘For You’, taking place throughout the month of October.
“The event is organised for women particularly, and the community more generally, as it focuses on breast cancer awareness, addressing its seriousness, prevention methods, and the important role of exercise in boosting the body’s immune system.”
