Cebu Pacific presents new products in Doha

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, has presented its new products in Doha as part of its 20-year anniversary celebration this year.
The airline has rolled out its rewards programme for frequent fliers, dubbed “GetGo”, which now allows friends and family members as well as groups of people, to pool their points together to earn free flights.
Speaking at the event, CEB account executive for long-haul sales Moises Hernandez III said GetGo also allows members to top up their points with cash.
“What’s more? The rewards points do not expire,” he said. “They can use the points as long as it is active.”
The programme is part of the airline’s objective of rewarding its more than 1.4mn club members and 63 corporate accounts with free flights.
The airline is also expected to offer more opportunities to earn points in the future.
Hernandez noted that they also recently received the delivery of three new Airbus A320s and one ATR 72-600.
According to Cebu Pacific, the ATR 72-600 will be operated by Cebgo, its wholly owned subsidiary.
The aircraft features advanced avionics, enhanced performance in hot and high environments, and increased cabin space along with additional seating capacity.
Between 2016 and 2021, CEB will also take delivery of three new Airbus A320, 30 Airbus A321neo, and 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft.
CEB and the United Nations Children’s Fund have partnered to introduce the “Change for Good” programme in the Philippines, designed to collect donations from passengers and convert these into life-saving materials and services for children in need in more than 150 countries worldwide.
The airline, together with seven other market champions in Asia Pacific, has also formed the world’s largest low-cost carrier alliance, named the Value Alliance.
CEB’s product presentation was attended by Philippines ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo Santos, Regency Travel & Tours chief executive Tareq Abdullatif Taha, other CEB officials, and travel agents in Qatar.
Santos underscored CEB’s contribution as the embassy’s partner in promoting the Philippines as a tourism destination in various countries it operates, particularly in Qatar and the GCC region.
“As the Philippines government further develops its halal infrastructure, we hope to see an increase in the number of Muslim travellers from Qatar and the rest of this region,” he said.
The envoy also stressed on the role of Filipino expatriates as “cultural ambassadors” in helping the embassy and CEB promote the Philippines in Qatar.
