QC helps Burkina orphans start a new chapter in life

Qatar Charity (QC) has held an educational camp and a recreational trip for Burkina Faso orphans as well as a ceremony to honour outstanding orphaned students for 2016.
The director of operations management at QC’s Executive Department of Operations, Khalid al-Yafei, said Qatar Charity organised the camp in Burkina Faso to “build and strengthen the educational and moral values of the sponsored orphans”.
This would also help achieve the humanitarian and development goals of the orphans’ sponsorship project implemented by QC in Burkina Faso, it was observed.
Al-Yafei thanked the people of Qatar for supporting the orphans.
The second educational camp was held under the theme “Together towards a Better Tomorrow”, which lasted for seven days in Bobo-Dioulasso and was attended by 250 orphans.
“The camp aimed at consolidating the spirit of fraternity among orphans and training them on practical life by cultivating sound concepts and values, providing educational lectures, holding dhikr and Holy Qur’an sessions, holding cultural competitions and carrying out sports activities, which brought joy and happiness into the orphans’ hearts,” QC said in a press statement.
The Social Welfare Department organised a recreational trip to Validiko region in Hui state, located in the west of Burkina Faso, for orphans sponsored by QC under the slogan “Entertaining an Orphan is a Religious and Social Duty”. Besides, the orphans visited agricultural areas and a number of activities were held on the occasion.
In the presence of the orphans’ sponsors and officials and heads of charitable organisations operating in Burkina Faso, the Social Welfare Department organised a ceremony to honour outstanding orphaned students for 2016 in Bobo-Dioulasso city.
The top 100 orphaned students from primary and secondary schools were honoured at the event.
Meanwhile, the QC office in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, organised a “medical day” for 600 orphans at Al Noor Medical Centre under the slogan “Health Right for All”. A representative of the Islamic Associations’ Union in Burkina Faso and directors of the Relief Organisation, Al Noor Medical Centre and QC attended the “medical day”.
The number of orphans sponsored by QC exceeds 100,000, and the organisation provides integrated care as well as monthly financial assistance to orphans in 34 countries.
