Legal action against sailors over hunting of Caspian gull

The Al Shamal Marine Unit initiated legal procedures against some sailors for hunting the Caspian gull, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment said in a tweet yesterday.
A press statement from the MME also informed that Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality had announced a one-day closure of Al Jalta Park today to carry out pest control works. The park will reopen to the public tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the director of Al Wakrah Municipality issued an administrative decision to close a fish shop at a shopping centre in Al Wakrah for 10 days after health control inspectors found rotten fish.
The inspectors issued a violation report against the outlet and destroyed the rotten fish.
The MME’s Environmental Operations Department is organising a series of training lectures on firefighting in co-operation with the Civil Defence and Ministry of Interior until October 27.
The courses, which began yesterday, target employees of different municipalities, aiming to raise their awareness on relevant issues and to enhance their skills while dealing with situations that involve fire.
The MME statement said the General Cleanliness Department, Beaches and Islands Section, had conducted a clean-up campaign at Sealine beach. Garbage and refuse materials were removed during the initiative.
Also, the Public Gardens Department conducted an “agriculture guidance day” at Lusail Model Independent School for Boys, with 90 students taking part in the event.
The Public Gardens Department’s nursery section has produced 1.5mn seasonal flowers. Accordingly, 160,000 flowers have been distributed across different municipalities in the country this month.
