HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday received at Al Wajba Palace Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah, who offered his condolences on the death of HH the Grandfather Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani.
HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani was also present along with HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Khalifa al-Thani, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Thani and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa al-Thani.
The Emir of Kuwait was accompanied by a high-level delegation.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Cabinet has offered its condolences to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, the Qatar government and people on the death of HH the Grandfather Emir, praising his role in standing by Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion in 1990.
This came during the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah. Kuwait’s Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohamed Abdullah al-Mubarak said in a statement reported by Kuna that the cabinet would remember with appreciation the position of HH the Grandfather Emir in rejecting the aggression of the previous Iraqi regime on Kuwait and support to Kuwaiti legitimacy, as well as Qatar’s hosting of the GCC summit in December 1990.
The statement expressed the Kuwaiti Cabinet’s condolences to Qatar’s Emir, government and people.
HH the Emir and HH the Father Emir received at Al Wajba Palace Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Mohamed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz al-Saud who offered condolences on the death of HH the Grandfather Emir. HH the Deputy Emir was present at the reception along with HE Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Khalifa al-Thani, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Thani and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa al-Thani.
The Saudi crown prince was accompanied by a high-level delegation.
UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid al-Maktoum and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan offered their condolences to HH the Emir and HH the Father Emir. They were accompanied by a top-level delegation.
Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifah, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, also met HH the Emir and HH the Father Emir to convey his condolences.
HH the Emir and HH the Father Emir also received the Adviser to Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al-Said, Representative of King Mohamed VI of Morocco Prince Moulay Rachid, and former president of Sudan Field Marshal Abdel Rahman Swar al-Dahab, who expressed their condolences on the death of HH the Grandfather Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani.
The Emir and the Father Emir received GCC Secretary General Dr Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani who offered condolences on the death of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani.
