Residents will have the opportunity to watch and enjoy authentic Qatari musical arts and folk singing every weekend until April 28, 2017 at the Katara – the Cultural Village esplanade.

The second edition of this cultural show dubbed as ‘The Revival of Qatar’s Musical Heritage and Qatari Folk Singing Programme’ is in line with Katara’s continuous efforts to preserve the heritage of Qatar’s ancestors. It will be staged between 6pm and 10pm every Thursday and Friday.

Some sideline activities at the event include training sessions, competitions, exhibitions, documentary research, publications, and lectures and seminars.

The previous weekend at Katara had seen stunning Qatari traditional performances on stage that enthralled by a diverse audience.

Katara will also focus in showing the extent of Qatari pride and heritage especially in documenting the various phases of time referring back to the life of ancestors and the tough circumstances they had gone through.

Last week, a number of workshops had been organised, in collaboration with Katara Art Studios, such as engraving henna on wood and canvas by Qatari Artist Aisha al-Mohannadi.

The paper pulp workshop, which concludes today, has been attracting a large number of children while a live art painting expo at the Village’s Alleys will continue to amuse visitors throughout October during the weekends. Visitors will also enjoy a QatArt handmade market today from 3pm to 8pm.

Katara Art Studious will also organise a number of art workshops for different age groups in November, including paper quilling by Shuarra Iqbal Hussain on the 18th, 19th, and 25th; arcket art by the artist Ahmad Farouq on the 13th and 16th; and Art of Islamic Geometry by Aziza Iqbal, which will take place on the 10th, 17th and 24th.
