QC signs pact with LuLu to sell Elkher cards

Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a co-operation agreement with LuLu Hypermarket Trading Co.
The co-operation will involve marketing of Elkher cards project in LuLu Hypermarket outlets, providing an easy way for shoppers to donate to QC projects, the organisation has said in a statement.
The cards will be on sale in LuLu outlets across the country, with all proceeds going to QC.
Yusuf bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, chief executive officer, QC, said, “Qatar Charity is very pleased with the signing of this agreement with LuLu Hypermarket Trading Co because they strive to serve the humanitarian message. Elkher cards contribute to this by allowing shoppers to donate to Qatar Charity.
“Qatar Charity has always sought to create partnerships with public and private institutions in order to achieve its mission and reach the largest number of target groups around the world.”
Al-Kuwari stressed that QC was particularly keen on building co-operation with the retail sector so that it could reach as many donors as possible, pointing to previous seasonal collaborations with LuLu, which raised considerable funds.
The Qatar Charity CEO praised the role played by LuLu in the Qatari society and its eagerness to contribute to the well-being of the community and support needy groups through the signing of the agreement.
Shaijan M O, regional director, at LuLu, said: “LuLu Hypermarket Trading Co wishes to play an important role in the area of social responsibility via this collaboration with Qatar Charity, on the basis of the values and norms of our society and community interdependence with the various segments of society.”
Ali Gharib, of QC, added, “Qatar Charity works to provide charitable support through various marketing outlets and this card allows shoppers to provide for the needs of poor families by having their funds transferred directly to Qatar Charity.
“The Qatar Charity application allows you to choose the exact area where you wish to donate via participating malls. This can be done by showing a barcode through your mobile phone to the cashier, who then adds the amount to the shopping, rather than having to seek out collectors.”
QC had entered into a previous co-operation agreement and partnership with LuLu Hypermarket Trading Co, allowing customers to donate their small change for the benefit of charitable projects within and outside Qatar.
