HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Emiri decision No 51 of 2016 appointing Abdulaziz Ali Ahmed Nema al-Nema as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Hellenic Republic.
The emir also issued decisions appointing Ali Khalfan Ali Khalfan al-Mansouri as Qatar’s permanent representative to the UN’s European headquarters in Geneva and Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Saoud al-Abdulrahman al-Thani as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Netherlands.
The decisions are effective starting from their dates of issue and publication in the official gazette.
PM meets UN official
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday met UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator Stephen O’Brien, who is on a visit to Qatar.
Talks dealt with the humanitarian relief efforts and actions taken by Qatar to support people affected by crises, wars and disasters, as well as discussing the latest developments and issues related to humanitarian affairs at the regional and international level.
O’Brien praised Qatar’s role in humanitarian relief and charitable initiatives as well as its efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region and the world.
l HE the prime minister yesterday also met heads and directors of GCC news agencies who are in Doha to attend the inauguration of the single mobile phone application for GCC news agencies.
The prime minister wished success to the efforts of the news agencies in promoting GCC media co-operation and enhancing the media work to keep pace with developments in the region in various fields.
Qatar-Turkmen panel meets
The joint commission between Qatar and Turkmenistan held its second meeting in Doha yesterday under the presidency of HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations. The foreign minister stressed that Qatar and Turkmenistan enjoy cordial ties characterised by stability and based on understanding, mutual respect and keenness on developing them.
