Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) is set to publish the conference proceedings of the second annual Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) conference on QScience.com
QScience.com is the free, online, open-access research platform run by HBKU Press.
Last year marked the first annual Qatar Green Building Conference, which was established as a platform to generate and foster awareness, create understanding and initiate education; develop a definitive set of clear environmental and green building best practice guidelines; and support and commit to research and development.
This year’s conference will be held from November 13 to 15.
“The second annual Qatar Green Building Conference will explore ways to translate Qatar’s sustainability vision into action in line with the global sustainability agenda,” said Meshal Mohamed al-Shamari, director of QGBC. “Participants will witness a range of informative sessions around multiple sustainability themes relevant to Qatar, which will be conducted by leading sustainability experts and researchers from Qatar and beyond.”
QGBC has chosen to publish the conference proceedings with HBKU Press to “ensure that the wider community has unrestricted access to the information and valuable research being unveiled at the conference”, according to a press statement.
“We are delighted to collaborate with HBKU Press’s open-access platform for the second time,” added al-Shamari.  “Our collaboration ensures greater exposure to the profound research brought to light by our various stakeholders and experts at the conference.”
The conference proceedings available on QScience.com will include a review of the lectures, seminars and overall content discussed at the QGBC conference.  
HBKU Press uses its QScience platform to provide a home to the proceedings of many conferences held in Qatar and the region, which makes them citable and archived for use by future generations.
“Our recent reports show that QScience Proceedings downloads are among the highest overall, which shows a need by researchers to find the latest research on a given topic,” explained Dr Alwaleed Alkhaja, senior editor at HBKU Press. “To date, HBKU Press has published over 2,000 conference proceedings.”
