Amwal appoints Talal Samhouri as head of asset management

Independent asset management firm Amwal today announced that Talal Samhouri has joined the company as the new head of Asset Management.
Celebrated for his firm understanding of the regional business environment, Amwal said, Samhouri has extensive regional and international expertise in asset management and investment banking.  
In his current role at Amwal, Samhouri is responsible of developing and implementing the real estate investment management strategy, as well as designing and implementing cross segment initiatives for all other asset classes.
Samhouri will also develop and implement winning asset management strategies and deliver high, risk-adjusted investment returns. He will lead the Asset Management Division and activities geared toward excellence, efficiency, and improvement of its portfolio and related processes to maximise and protect return on investments.
Amwal CEO Fahmi Alghussein said: “We are pleased to have an expert such as Talal, who brings in his experience and knowledge to develop our asset management strategies and lead the business to the next level.”  
Samhouri has more than 22 years of asset management and investment banking experience in the Mena region and the US. Prior to his current position at Amwal, Samhouri was the head of Private Equity and Corporate Finance at Dar Al Mal in DIFC, where he was responsible for launching a UK Real Estate Fund, in addition to M&A and capital structure advisory services for GCC institutions and family groups.
Previously, Samhouri headed the Mena Asset Management Division of Global Investment House in Kuwait, with AuMs of over $3.5bn, he was responsible for establishing and running the asset management team of more than 23 professionals across four regional offices in the Mena region.
Formerly, Samhouri was a fund manager and then head of the asset management department at AB Invest (previously Atlas Investment Group), a subsidiary of Arab Bank group. Before moving back to the Mena region, Samhouri started his career in auditing and financial advisory in the US with American Express Financial Corp.
During his tenure, Samhouri has built comprehensive experience in sourcing, structuring and managing various investment opportunities in the Mena region. Samhouri has a BSc degree in Accounting and MBA in Finance, Real Estate and Insurance. In addition, he is a CFA Charterholder since 2003.
