Three month traffic diversion on Mesaieed Road

The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, will implement a minor traffic diversion on a roundabout on Mesaieed Road, about 14km south of Al Wakra, from Thursday for three months.

The temporary detour, which comes in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, will enable the construction of a critical interchange that connects the New Hamad Port to the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project.

During the diversion, road users travelling southbound from Al Wakra to Mesaieed will be detoured to a purpose-built loop road for 300m before rejoining Mesaieed Road, as shown on the map.

Road users travelling northbound from Mesaieed to Al Wakra, eastbound to the New Hamad Port or westbound to the Industrial Area will be unaffected by the minor diversion.

The new loop road will have the same road capacity, and road users will still have access to two lanes in all directions.

With the camping season now underway, Ashghal has reminded road users to exercise special care while driving to their campsite, by reducing speed and following newly installed diversion road signs.

Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit, which remains at 50kph, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
