Qatar Green Building Conference organised by Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) and scheduled from November 13-15, will discuss the inclusive themes of ‘Sustainability as a Lifestyle,’ ‘Green Business,’ and ‘Future Sustainable Cities,’ with a special focus on Qatar.
QGBC will also launch a new initiative at the event.
QGBC has announced a new programme, ‘Qatar Sustainability Week’ from November 13 to 19 as a platform to promote Qatar’s sustainability vision and community engagement among the stakeholders.
The details of the conference were announced yesterday by QGBC along with representatives of the major sponsors. QGBC director Meshal al-Shamari, Msheireb Properties CEO Abdulla al-Mehshadi, Amlak’s communications and marketing consultant Fahad al-Hajri, Vodafone Qatar external affairs director Mohamed al-Yami and Atelier 101 general manager Charles Vincent were present.Hundreds of leading environmentalists, academics and sustainability experts from Qatar and around the world will take part in the three-day conference to be held at Qatar National Convention Centre.
Al-Shamari told Gulf Times that the conference will focus on various sustainability practices in the industry. “At the opening of the conference, we will announce a new initiative that will have great impact on the sustainability practices. We expect academic researchers, sustainability experts, environmentalists and other industry practitioners among others from Qatar and beyond to take part in the conference.”
According to the official, the Qatar Sustainability Week 2016, aims to provide a platform for highlighting and keeping track of Qatar’s potential, commitment and contributions in mitigating global climate change. Throughout the week, members of the private and public sectors in Qatar will showcase their sustainability efforts and achievements in a series of exciting events around the country.
“Qatar Sustainability Week provides a great platform for various stakeholders to showcase their practical solutions to the environmental challenges facing Qatar and the wider region, and will assist in achieving the global sustainability goals outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030. It is also an opportunity for the people of Qatar to join in and learn about the various aspects of sustainability, and we encourage everyone to participate in an event.”al-Shamari added.
Winners of the ‘Qatar Sustainability Awards’ will also be announced at the conference. The awards were introduced by QGBC to commend the commitment and contributions of individuals and organisations in advancing sustainable development and environmental protection in Qatar and beyond.
Al-Mehshadi described that the Qatar Green Building Conference 2016 serves as an exemplary platform to explore and showcase continuing progress in sustainability in its various forms, including its influence on the development of smart cities, transformative urban landscapes and seminal architectural models.
