Qatar and Serbia sign pacts to boost bilateral relations

Qatar and Serbia signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding following a round of official talks chaired by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the visiting Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
The talks reviewed bilateral relations between Qatar and Serbia and means of developing them, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, culture and agriculture. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern, especially developments in the Middle East.
After the session, the Emir and the Serbian president witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries.
The signed documents included an agreement on the motivation and protection of mutual investments between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Serbia, a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of youth and sports between the governments of  Qatar and Serbia, a co-operation agreement in the cultural field between the two governments, and a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of agriculture between Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Serbia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.
Several Qatari ministers and the official delegation accompanying the Serbian president were also present at the talks.
Earlier on arrival at the Emiri Diwan an official reception ceremony was accorded to the Serbian president
Later the Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of President Tomislav Nikolic and the delegation accompanying him.
A number of Qatari ministers attended the banquet.
Meanwhile, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday held separate talks with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and the delegation accompanying him on the occasion of their visit to the country.
The meeting reviewed means of developing bilateral relations between Qatar and Serbia on all fronts, and discussed issues of mutual interest.
