Chief of Staff meets US Air Force commander

HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem met the Commander of the US Air Forces Central Command Lt Gen Jeffrey Harrigian in Doha yesterday. They discussed military co-operation between Qatar and the US, especially in matters relating to the air force.

Qatar’s envoy toNepal presents credentials
Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari received the credentials of Qatar’s ambassador Yousef bin Mohamed al-Hail. The ambassador conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. The Nepalese president reciprocated the Emir’s greetings. She wished the ambassador success in his new assignment.

Al-Kuwari meets Ivory Coast FM

HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, Adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar’s candidate for the post of the director general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) met here on Wednesday with Foreign Minister of Ivory Coast Abdallah Albert Toikeusse.
During the meeting, HE Dr al-Kuwari thanked the foreign minister for the support he received in Ivory Coast.
HE al-Kuwari also gave a brief on his vision as a candidate for Unesco director, the importance of Africa and related programmes of the organisation.
The Qatari candidate also presented his vision for the advancement of Unesco and his plan to implement this vision, emphasising the importance of the relationship between the African continent and the Unesco as well as the programmes that will achieve the objectives of the continent and the Unesco’s goals in disseminating culture and education.
For his part, Ivory Coast’s Foreign Minister welcomed the Qatari candidate and expressed his appreciation for the importance of relations between Qatar and his country and his confidence in the Qatari candidate’s abilities and experience, wishing him success in his endeavour.
HE Dr al-Kuwari also met Ivory Coast’s Minister of Culture and Francophonie Maurice Bandaman.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the cultural aspects of the vision of Dr al-Kuwari for the advancement of Unesco and the importance the preservation of heritage that are at risk in conflict areas.
