Al-Kuwari meets I Coast ministers

HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar’s candidate for the post of the director general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), met yesterday with the Ivory Coast’s Defence Minister Alain Richard Donwahi who is also the chairman of the NOAA Regional Council (NOAA), one of the well-known and important heritage sites.
Discussions during the meeting dealt with the Unesco’s role in the preservation of World Heritage, and disasters that hit such heritage as a result of war and
negligence.
Dr al-Kuwari reviewed his vision to preserve the heritage of humanity from sabotage by extremist groups and terrorism, and the need for solidarity of the international community to confront these dangers.
For his part, the Ivory Coast’s defence minister stressed the importance of Unesco’s role in heritage preservation, and looked forward to co-operating with the Qatari candidate, wishing him success in his mission.
Al-Kuwari also met with Ivory Coast’ Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training Dr Paul Kofi Kofi. They discussed Qatar’s candidate on the role of education in promoting Unesco.
Al-Kuwari confirmed that he will give Education for All Programmes for Africa, the bulk of his attention.
In turn, the Ivory Coast’s minister of technical education and vocational training praised the role of the State of Qatar in education, particularly the Education Above All programme, noting that the African continent has benefited greatly from this programme and wished the Qatari candidate’s success, and looked forward to co-operating with him in the future.
