The Seattle Seahawks, getting a small measure of revenge for losing Super Bowl XLIX to New England in the final seconds, staged a valiant goal-line stand in the closing seconds and the stunned the Patriots 31-24 on Sunday night in the National Football League.
New England (7-2) had a first-and-goal at the 1 and failed on four tries, culminating with Tom Brady lobbing a pass in the direction of tight end Rob Gronkowski, who stumbled over safety Kam Chancellor as the ball fell incomplete, allowing the Seahawks (6-2-1) to survive for their second straight win.
Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson finished 25 of 37 for 348 yards, and he tossed three touchdown passes to Doug Baldwin. It doesn’t make up for the Super Bowl two years ago but it did take some of the sting away. “It is an awesome win. Coming on the road and to get big win in a big hyped up game feels absolutely great,” said running back CJ Prosise. “We had a hard time getting the running game going, but the offensive line opened up holes for me.”
It was the 97th straight game, including playoffs, in which the Seahawks haven’t trailed by more than 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Cowboys 35, Steelers 30
Ezekiel Elliott ran 32 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with nine seconds remaining – his second score in a frantic final two minutes – and the Dallas Cowboys rallied to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a dramatic renewal of their decades-long rivalry.
In a remarkable game in which the lead changed hands three times in the final two minutes and four times in the fourth quarter, Elliott ran for two touchdowns and also scored on an 83-yard screen pass as the Cowboys (8-1) won their eighth in a row. The Steelers (4-5) dropped their fourth in a row despite Ben Roethlisberger’s 408 yards passing and three touchdowns.

Dolphins 31, Chargers 24
Kiko Alonso returned Philip Rivers’ third of four fourth-quarter interceptions for a touchdown, lifting the Miami Dolphins past the San Diego Chargers. Rivers was trying to hit Tyrell Williams when Alonso jumped the route for the pick and returned it 60 yards. Tony Lippett then intercepted his second pass of the game in the closing minute to clinch the victory for Miami (5-4).

Cardinals 23, 49ers 20
The Arizona Cardinals overcame four turnovers and a late-game rally by the San Francisco 49ers by getting a game-winning, 34-yard field goal from Chandler Catanzaro at the end of regulation. It was the third field goal for Catanzaro, who also connected from 39 and 19 yards. The Cardinals improved to 4-4-1. The 49ers lost for the eighth consecutive game to drop to 1-8.

Chiefs 20, Panthers 17
Brazilian Cairo Santos kicked a 37-yard field goal on the last play as the Kansas City Chiefs completed a comeback from 17 points down to defeat the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte. It was an unlikely conclusion as the Chiefs converted off two late turnovers for their fifth straight win. Santos kicked four field goals and Kansas City (7-2) won despite going without a touchdown from its offense. The Panthers (3-6) were denied stretching their winning streak to three games.

Rams 9, Jets 6
Kicker Greg Zuerlein kicked three field goals, including the game-winning 34-yarder with 6:52 left, as the Los Angeles Rams edged the New York Jets. The road win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Rams (4-5), who rode three Zuerlein field goals to a win for the second time this season. Zuerlein accounted for all of Los Angeles’ offense in a 9-3 win over Seattle on Sept. 18. It was the second straight loss for the Jets (3-7), who are all but eliminated from playoff contention.

Redskins 26, Vikings 20
Dustin Hopkins kicked four second-half field goals, the Washington defense pitched a shutout in the final 30 minutes and the Redskins sent the Minnesota Vikings for a fourth successive loss. Minnesota, behind six Sam Bradford to Stefon Diggs completions, drove to the Washington 21-yard line in the final minute before losing the ball on downs after Bradford was sacked on fourth-and-17.
Kirk Cousins passed for 262 yards and two touchdowns without an interception for the Redskins (5-3-1) and Robert Kelley rushed for 97 yards.

Titans 47, Packers 25
The Tennessee Titans led 21-0 before the first quarter was over and easily held off the Green Bay Packers.
In upping their record to 5-5, the Titans got a huge game from quarterback Marcus Mariota, who completed 19 of 26 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns.
Mariota has 21 touchdown passes for the year, becoming the first Tennessee quarterback since Steve McNair (24) in 2003 to reach 20 in a season. DeMarco Murray and Delanie Walker also enjoyed big days for the Titans, as Green Bay fell to 4-5.

Buccaneers 36, Bears 10
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers forced four turnovers in the first half, including a pick-six from safety Chris Conte, and picked up their first home win, beating the Chicago Bears. In the second-most lopsided Bucs win ever against the Bears in 57 all-time meetings, quarterback Jameis Winston passed for 312 yards and two touchdowns for Tampa Bay (4-5).
Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler had two interceptions and a fumble in the first half as the Bears (2-7) dropped to 0-5 on the road this season.

Texans 24, Jaguars 21
The Houston Texans scored one touchdown on defense and set up another with a big play on special teams to give their offense an easy day during a road victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Cornerback Kareem Jackson intercepted Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles on the first drive of the game and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown as the Texans (6-3) sent the Jaguars (2-7) to a fourth straight loss.

Eagles 24, Falcons 15
The Philadelphia Eagles finally showed that they can win a game late as they rallied for a home win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Eagles trailed 15-13 when running back Ryan Mathews scored on a 5-yard run for the winning points and then their defense kept the high-flying Falcons’ offense in check to improve to 5-4. Mathews, who had lost his starting job to Darren Sproles, rushed for a season-high 109 yards on 19 carries.

Broncos 25, Saints 23
Denver safety Justin Simmons leaped over the center to block a potential game-winning extra point attempt and safety Will Parks returned it 84 yards for a two-point defensive conversion to lift the Broncos to a wild road victory over the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints appeared poised to win after Drew Brees threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks with 1:22 left, tying the score at 23, pending the extra point try.
