The Qatar University (QU) Student Affairs Sector has launched its upcoming student leadership conference, ‘Taqadam: Tanmeea, Enjaz, Qiaadah’, which will be held on November 26 and 27.
Details of the two-day conference were outlined by QU vice president for Students Affairs Dr Khalid al-Khanji, College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) president Dr Ken MacLeod, Community College of Qatar (CCQ) dean Dr Abdulla Hazaimeh and Stenden University Qatar executive dean Dr Ivan Ninov in the presence of officials from QU and the partnering
institutions.
The conference, described as the “first of its kind” in Qatar, will be held under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums, Doha Film Institute and Reach Out to Asia. It is being organised in partnership with CCQ, CNA-Q, Stenden University Qatar and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and sponsored
by Qatar Development Bank.
The conference will bring together students from colleges and universities across Qatar to network and exchange their knowledge and experiences on leadership development in the GCC region.
Commenting on the conference, Dr al-Khanji said: “We are keen to provide students from QU and from other higher education institutions with opportunities that help them acquire leadership skills. In hosting this conference, QU is also demonstrating its efforts to raise students’ awareness of the importance of gaining theoretical leadership skills and the know-how to apply them in real-life situations.”
CCQ dean Dr Abdalla Hazaimeh said, “The Taqadam student leadership conference gives our nation’s children the opportunity to learn more about transformational leadership, not only in theoretical terms, but also in terms of practical application.”
On his part, Dr MacLeod noted: “The ‘Taqadam’ student leadership conference is a prime example of providing students with an opportunity that allows them to learn from current leaders
to become future leaders.”
Stenden University Qatar executive dean Dr Ivan Ninov added, “It is a great pleasure and privilege for Stenden University Qatar to participate in the second edition of the ‘Taqadam conference’, which we believe will create a foundation for strong social and professional networking among its participants.”
