Several eateries in Doha and other parts of the country have been punished by the municipal authorities for violating Law No.8 for 1990 on the regulation of
human food control.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), a violation report was issued against a restaurant in the Old Airport area for storing and preparing food in unhygienic conditions inside a storehouse behind the eatery.
The Health Control Section also registered a violation against a food establishment in Mansoura, where expired food products were put on display for sale.
Doha Municipality director Jamal Matar al-Nuaimi has ordered a 15-day closure of a restaurant in the Umm Lekhba area for serving food prepared in unhealthy conditions.
Al Daayen Municipality director Mohamed Matar al-Kuwari ordered a similar closure of a cafeteria in the Umm Qarn area for serving and keeping foodstuff unfit for human
consumption.
Another violation was reported against a cafeteria in Bin Omran area for using expired eggs and preparing meals in unhygienic conditions at a spot behind the outlet, away from public view.
Besides, Health Control Section inspectors found frozen chicken and fish being defrosted in an improper manner. The eatery was issued a violation report.
Inspectors also issued a violation report to a restaurant in Bin Mahmoud for storing foodstuff and tools used in the preparation of meals outside the eatery, exposing them to pollution and insects.
Further, necessary legal procedures were initiated and violations reported against a supermarket in Bin Omran, a restaurant in New Al Mirqab for keeping expired foodstuff, and a restaurant located at a petrol station in Duhail for keeping expired foodstuff as well as items without information labels.
A restaurant in the Dafna area was issued a violation report for not complying with Law No.3 for 1975 on commercial, industrial and similar entities that conduct business with the public. Foodstuff was kept improperly in the refrigerator at the eatery.
