Jaidah Automotive, the exclusive dealer of Chevrolet in Qatar and official organiser of the ‘SeeMyDoha’ photography competition, has announced the return of the event and said it expects to receive even more pictures after a record 139,051 entries last year.
The competition runs until January 15, the company said in a press statement.
The ‘SeeMyDoha’ photography competition is an offshoot of ‘SeeMyCity’ and has been adopted by Jaidah Automotive as the way forward to its annual photography contest. It has “gained popularity since its start in 2013-2014 and is one of the most anticipated events of the year for photography aficionados in Doha,” the statement said.
The competition uses camera-enabled smartphones and the social media platform, Instagram. Pictures tagged under #SeeMyDoha2016 on Instagram will automatically qualify and be nominated for prizes.
The competition’s aim is to portray Doha in a “new, creative and inspirational way, reflecting people’s unique experiences.” To enter, all posts must include the official hashtag #SeeMyDoha2016.
A panel of expert judges for the competition will pick two nominees to enter the exhibition every month. All nominated pictures will be exhibited at the SeeMyDoha photography exhibition to be held in February where the winner will be announced.
The winner will receive a two-night trip to Oman for two people in a five-star hotel.
This year, Jaidah Automotive has hosted three free workshops for all registered photography enthusiasts. The workshops delivered by SeeMyCity members Jeroen Moor, Dirk Bakker and Marianne Hope pertained to theory training for beginners, advanced theory level as well as practical training in smaller groups that were transported to a photography destination – Al Hazm mall.
Under the competition’s rules, entries are to be submitted only via Instagram, with images that clearly reflect Qatar; other images will not be considered. Full details of the terms and conditions of can be found at www.seemydoha.com
