The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) held a workshop for its employees titled ‘Educational Affairs’ in collaboration with the Family Consulting Centre.

The workshop was organised as part of the MEC’s Community Engagement Programme.
The aim of the initiative was to strengthen family culture among the employees and introduce them to educational patterns, and their role in supporting their children’s capabilities and how to deal with them.
The workshop addressed a number of key topics, such as the definition of the educational process and its concepts as well as the practical applications. Additionally, it shed light on educational patterns and the impact of each pattern on the personality of the children and their social interaction and different factors affecting the educational process.
The workshop also touched upon the role of parents in enhancing their children’s capabilities with a focus on the ‘dialogue principle’, and the identification of the success scale of the educational process.
The workshop concluded with a series of queries and discussion sessions in order to achieve the desired objectives.
Meanwhile, the ministry, in collaboration with the Public Administration Institute at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, organised a training programme to prepare Grade 2 employees for leadership and supervisory jobs.
More than 50 employees undertaking leadership and supervisory jobs participated in the initiative.
The training programme is in line with the MEC’s keenness to rehabilitate and prepare the employees undertaking leadership and supervisory jobs, and enhance their skills and knowledge for future leadership roles, the ministry said in a press statement.
The programme addressed topics on supervisory managerial skills, how to prepare, organise and develop action plans, the mechanism for evaluating the performance of staff as well as communication skills to deal with subordinates and how to motivate them, time-management skills and the mechanism for organising meetings, and the provisions of the Human Resources Act, the statement added.
