The sixth edition of the Dhow Festival at the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara completed its second day on Wednesday with a good turnout of visitors.

The annual event, under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is being held until Saturday at Katara beach.
A group of members of the Wives of Heads of Missions in Qatar (WHOM) toured the festival, accompanied by Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti.
Lebanon, Palestine, Algeria, Arteria, Chad, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Hungary were represented in the delegation.
Daphne Sohan, wife of the Singaporean ambassador, described the dhow festival as ‘the most interesting cultural event she attended in Doha so far.’
Roqaya al-Mahy, wife of the Chad ambassador, pointed out the importance of preserving culture, as new generations should be well-aware of their own cultural identity.
A number of students from 14 national and international schools also visited the event to be introduced to the Qatari maritime heritage. The children were assigned to different projects that helped to improve their awareness of the old lifestyle. They could paint a dhow, write essays, and engage in photography assignments.
Dhow Trips from The Pearl-Qatar to Katara and back, daily from 3pm to 9pm, are new attractions of the festival this year. The traditional café serves coffee and Qatari Karak.
The event features a collection of maritime tournaments, including a rowing tournament scheduled to start Friday at 3.30pm, followed by Al-Lafah competition at 4pm.
The opening ceremony of the pearl diving event is today at 4pm, followed by Al Naham at 5.45pm. Daloub Operetta is held daily from 6.30pm, where visitors will enjoy a traditional live performance steeped in Qatar history.
