Mentors give students tips on career paths

Bedaya and Qatar Shell celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) at schools and universities with the launch of the Enterprise Challenge Qatar (ECQ) 2016-2017 Programme.
ECQ is in its fifth year running with the participation of more than 1,200 students from over 40 schools across Qatar.
During the celebration, ECQ mentors delivered special sessions to students about the different GEW activities in Qatar and the importance of entrepreneurship for their future career paths. Mentors also conducted competitions within schools for the best business ideas with winners being awarded recognition prizes.
Over the coming weeks, ECQ volunteer mentors will deliver coaching sessions for the students on ethical business principles, training them on how to navigate a computer-based business simulation, and how to pitch an entrepreneurial business idea.
The programme will conclude with the grand final competition taking place in March next year.
In 2015, Qatar Shell signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to promote the Enterprise Challenge Qatar programme nationwide in all independent and international secondary schools.
The Enterprise Challenge competition was created by Prince’s Trust International, a UK-based not-for-profit organisation established by the Prince of Wales, with a range of mentoring programmes aimed at fostering opportunities for young people. Qatar Shell is the founding partner of Prince’s Trust International in Qatar, and together with Bedaya, has worked to bring the Enterprise Challenge to Qatar.
