‘Made in China 2016’ attracts 6,000 visitors: QC official

The recently-concluded ‘Made in China 2016’ exhibition has attracted more than 6,000 visitors during its second instalment in Qatar, an official of Qatar Chamber said.
The four-day exhibition, organised by the Qatar Chamber and the China International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchanges, promoted “quality Chinese products” and aimed to cement economic and trade ties between Qatar and China.
Qatar Chamber director-general Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi said Chinese companies that participated in the event have expressed their interest to take part in the exhibition’s third edition next year.
“The exhibition was a good opportunity to open the markets of the region for Chinese companies. It created a platform for making productive partnerships with their counterparts in the GCC, al-Sharqi said.
He also said the ‘Made in China’ 2016 edition witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding between Qatari and Chinese companies, and is expected to enhance and exchange cooperation ties between both sides. “Trade transactions have been implemented as well,” al-Sharqi noted.
Aside from enhancing Qatar-China bilateral trade and economic cooperation spheres, al-Sharqi said the exhibition also helped boost cultural communication between the two countries.
“We enabled new Chinese districts to take part in order to display different kinds of industries in the Qatari market. Next year’s edition will witness the participation of new districts and firms.
“The number of Chinese companies that participated in the exhibition almost doubled this year. This shows how important China sees the Qatari market as and the depth of the relations between the two countries,” al-Sharqi said.
He pointed out that talks are in the pipeline with a foreign country to organise a similar expo in 2017. “This step aims at helping local manufacturers to exchange experience with their counterparts from another country,” al-Sharqi added.
