Hyundai Motors is set to adopt its home-grown AI voice assistant user interface technology around its fleet of high-end premium car models.
Scheduled to roll off the line in second half of 2017, the voice-recognition, intelligent UI-embedded car models will be available only in Korean market in the first place, but will gradually expand its reach across overseas markets.
Unlike the previous one that the car maker has custom-built around Google and Amazon AI voice recognition-based AI platforms, the AI-based voice assistant UI technology is of its own making. It allows car owners to activate various infotainment systems, including navigation and music playback systems with a command of Korean speech while driving.
Especially, the Hyundai’s AI voice assistant system is an automotive-grade one developed just only to be used with automotive applications.
Hyundai Motors is also developing natural language-based AI assistant technology called as connected car operating system or ccOS, aiming to embed it into its car product line up by 2020
The new AI-based natural language use interface technology will enable cars to interact with drivers with a command of voice and gesture.
